Pple serious about sustainability

May 18, 2022

Pple Group is delighted to announce that our holding company, Imperial Logistics Group, has once again been awarded a Silver Medal by the internationally recognised EcoVadis rating agency in March 2022, valid for one year. Imperial has achieved a silver rating since its first group-level EcoVadis assessment in 2020.

Our group Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) proposition – the prioritising of people, planet and profits – is embedded in our business and is an important part of our strategy.

Our ESG pillars include:
• Sustainable environment
• Diverse and healthy workforce
• Develop our communities and countries of operation
• Governance for ethical business

EcoVadis, an international rating agency founded in 2007, evaluates the sustainability performance of global supply chain companies. It is the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, having rated more than 90,000 companies worldwide. Its methodology is built on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and the ISO 26000, covering more than 200 industries and over 160 countries. The Sustainability Scorecard illustrates performance across 21 indicators in four themes: environment; labour and human rights; ethics; and sustainable procurement.

The EcoVadis overall score – from 0 to 100 – reflects the quality of the company's sustainability management system at the time of the assessment. Imperial’s current silver rating places it in the top 25% of companies assessed, having achieved scores of 70 each for environmental and social practices and 40 for governance.

Mohammed Akoojee, Imperial CEO and Roddy Sparks, chairman of the Social Ethics and Sustainability Committee, explain the reporting process: “The Imperial Logistics ESG report to stakeholders, for the period 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021, provides an overview of our governance, strategies, risks, opportunities and performance in relation to our material economic, social and environmental issues, as well as the progress made during the year on formalising an ESG strategy for the group. The report provides an in-depth review of our activities under two pillars of our business strategy, namely ‘people are our greatest asset’ and ‘integrating ESG practices’. It also covers the key issues that matter most to our stakeholders.”

As we prepare to celebrate World Environment Day on 5 June, as Pple Group we are proud to do our part.
